Sleek Contour Kit - Superdrug

It was love at first sight with the Sleek Contour Kit. I have always admired Sleeks make-up, especially their eyeshadow palettes, but I've never purchased any of their products solely to the fact Sleek isn't sold in any store in my town. I knew I wanted this handy little palette when I saw in months back, and with Christmas coming up and a good deal on the Superdrug website, I added it to my basket for Santa to bring me on Christmas day. It's a small palette with 3 different powders, a blush, a contouring powder, and a highlighter.

I used the palette the day I got it and really did love what it did. The Contouring Powder was a lovely subtle brown shade which I used more as a bronzer to warm up the whole of my face. Many times I've used a contour/bronzer and not realised quite how pigmented it is before putting it on my face. Sleeks on the other hand is a light colour which can be easily built up. Next, the Blush is a lovely peachy pink colour which is gorgeous on the apples of my cheek with a light dusting. Finally is the Highlighter which is probably my favourite of the three. I only own one other highlighter which is Benefits High Beam and I much prefer this one. I found a powder works a lot better for me, it's not so obvious and works beautifully along the top of my cheek bones, nose and forehead.

I got this top back in the Boxing Day Asos sale and I was actually really nervous about wearing it - it's a bit more out there with the snakeprint front and leather sleeves but I really want to start getting a bit more daring with what I wear, and playing with textures and prints is a perfect way to start. This week is the dreaded mock week so I spent my half term revising.. unfair or what?!

Also, I'm thinking of renaming my blog. I'm hoping to get rid of the 'blogspot' bit in my url but unfortunately the domain lucycole.com is already taken (damn you common name!). If I don't have a light bulb moment in the next few weeks I'll probably go with lucy-cole.com, but preferably I'd like to avoid any hyphens/numbers in it, so if any of you, much more imaginative, readers would like to suggest anything - please do!!

Review: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo & Bioderma Sample Set

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus +*

Recently I received a package from the premier beauty website Escentual expecting just the one product, however when opened I was pleasantly surprised to find not only the much-raved -about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus +* but also a set of Bioderma Samples* products, a brand I've been wanting to try out for ages now!

Although I haven't had Effaclar Duo for long now, I am already loving it. I've been after this for months however it has always been out of stock both online and in-store at Boots and I never knew where else I could buy it, until now of course! I'm not quite sure whether you're supposed to use this instead of moisturiser or before/after however I've been using it afterwards, or sometimes instead of! It claims to 'correct the appearance of blemishes, while unclogging blocked pores, controlling shine and refining the skin's texture' and it totally lives up to these. After using it just a few times I've already noticed the miracles it is working with my skin and it's only going to get better. It's easy to apply, non-sticky, a smooth texture and sinks in instantly. The only teeny-tiny-winy negative I've found is that when I wake up after applying this the night before, I do feel a bit oily-er than usual. But this is something very minor which can be fixed easily as I'd cleanse my face then anyway! I think it's safe to say this is at the top of my fave skincare product for now!

Bioderma Skincare Sample Set*

Now for the surprise products, the Bioderma Skincare Sample Set*, this pack is ideal for someone like me. I am eager to get into the high-end skincare but really have no idea where to start. There are so many brands with so many products and it's very easy to get something that doesn't work for my skin type and waste money! The pack consists of 22 samples of 5 different types of products: Sebium, Sensibo, Atoderm, Photoderm, and Hydrabio each aimed at different skin types. So far I've only tried one product which is the Sebium Hydra - Moisturing Replenishing Care and so far so good! I'm looking forward to giving everything a go to see what suits me best and hopefully buy a few full sized products!

Etat Pur BO1 Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Etat Pur BO1 Micellar Cleansing Water*

I won this cleansing water a while back when I won a blog giveaway and had never heard of the product, nor the brand before, so I was excited to give it a go! The Micellar Cleansing Water is a typical cleansing water, claiming to 'cleanse and remove make-up in one wipe' and 'respect the skins natural balance and guarantee good ocular tolerance'.

I tend to use this in the evening to remove my make-up or just as a simple cleanser in my routine. I found it was brilliant at removing make-up, perhaps not in the claimed 'one swipe', but it did a great job, even with that har-to-budge waterproof mascara. It didn't leave my face feeling oily/greasy either which I find some products do. What's also great is because it's water, there's no need to wash it off like some cream cleansers. I'm always partial to quick, hassle-free products! What I love about this is that it really does feel like water on your skin. It has pretty much no fragance so definitly wont irratate the skin

The product costs £7.40 for a 190ml bottle. Although I am impressed with this, I don't feel as if it has wowed me enough quite yet for me to purchase a bottle myself. It seems like it'll last a while but I just feel as though I could probably find something that does just a good job but much cheaper. I think I need to give it a go for a bit longer to form a real opinion on it.

Jeans and a cami will always be classy. What's even better is that this cami is covered in sequins and it's pink. I bought it a while ago for Union J because concerts automatically mean a new outfit and sparkles, right?! And I eneded up wearing it with a cute skater skirt and converse, but this look is ideal for a girls night out.
